Anime Piano Music Research Project

During the 2023 to 2024 school year, I conducted an independent study research project on Anime Piano Music for TMU499. This website features a summary of my findings and brief passages from my paper. Some topics have been skipped and heavily summarized. For the full list of citations and sources, I encourage any interested individuals to read my full paper.

Research Focus

The focus of my research centres around Anime Music, Anime Piano Music, and the arrangements of Animenz. Several parallels were drawn between these phenomena and classical music history. Questions surrounding the potential of responsive piano pedagogy and possible new performance practices were also explored. This project involved the collaboration of members of the Piano Faculty and the Ethics Review Board at the University of Toronto.
